Fayetteville police said one person is dead following a shooting at home in the 500 block of Stevens Street Saturday
Police say officers located a deceased man with a gunshot wound while responding to a report of a shooting Saturday night. The shooting happened in the 2800 block of Courtney Creek Boulevard just before 10 p.m. Police say the shooting does not appear to be random.

A 13-year-old student at a Pender County middle school has been charged after allegedly making a threat against the school. On Wednesday morning, a handwritten note that included a depiction of a gun being fired at Cape Fear Middle School was turned into a teacher, according to officials.

Police are investigating an overnight shooting outside an uptown Charlotte club. Shots were fired around 2 a.m. outside The Palace Charlotte on North Caldwell Street. Detectives told Chanel 9 a fight started inside the club before spilling out into the parking lot.

A Winston-Salem man is being held on $1 million bail for allegedly raping a 12-year-old girl last summer. Joseph Mashack, 39, is charged with first-degree statutory rape, two counts of first-degree statutory sexual offense and three counts of indecent liberties with a child.

Authorities in North Carolina say a prison escapee serving a life sentence was killed after he drove off from a work assignment in a stolen truck. The N.C. Department of Public Safety said 46-year-old David Alan Woods left his outside work assignment from Gaston Correctional Center on Monday and was reported missing at 12:50 p.m. A news release from the department said Woods was killed approximately 90 minutes later when he crashed a pickup truck belonging to the city of Lowell at an exit off Interstate 85.

A Winston-Salem woman who was critically injured in a shooting last Thursday died Monday, and police are treating her death as a homicide. Tenisha Jenel Mills, 27, of Toddler Place, died at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, where she was being treated for her injuries, Winston-Salem police said.
