Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools said the gun was found in some bushes outside the school. Officials said a suspect was identified and taken into custody.
Authorities say police shot an adult male. The man was rushed to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. It's still unclear if the man shot and killed was the person police were looking for late at night. The officer involved is on administrative leave.
