A woman was killed in a fire in Burke County Wednesday afternoon, according to officials. The fire broke out just before 3:30 p.m. at a home near the intersection of Summers and Windy Hill Roads. The fire marshal said it appears the woman was burning leaves near the garage of the home when the flames traveled to the building.
Police are investigating after a person was fatally shot near Schooner Drive and Torrence Chapel Road in Cornelius, a source said. Cornelius police said they are investigating a death in the Rockridge Shores Community but that there is no threat to the surrounding area.
Fayetteville: A 19-year-old man was arrested Wednesday in connection with the death of a woman found inside a Fayetteville hotel earlier this week. Authorities said Alyssa Mota, 23, of the 2100 block of Lakeridge Drive, was found unresponsive by an acquaintance inside a room at the Comfort Inn at 1922 Skibo Road on Monday night.

Raleigh, North Carolina shooting at 2200 block of Raven Road: 1 killed
Raleigh: Authorities are investigating a fatal early-morning shooting outside a Raleigh condo complex. It happened around 3:30 a.m. in the 2200 block of Raven Road in northern Raleigh. Officials tell ABC11 that a 31-year-old man was shot in the jaw and found lying in the parking lot when police arrived.
Charlotte: An armed robbery occurred early Tuesday night at the Starbucks at 545 Providence Rd., Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said. The gun-wielding robber fled the store and no arrests have been made.

A suspect led police on a chase through Cumberland and Harnett counties Monday night following a triple shooting in Erwin. Erwin Police Chief Jonathan Johnson said he spotted a suspect’s van leaving the scene of the shooting at about 8 p.m., but the suspect refused to stop.

Charlotte Fire says the building fire in west Charlotte from Saturday afternoon was set intentionally. Around 3:30 p.m, firefighters responded to a call of a structure fire in the 4300 block of Ashley Circle. No one was hurt from the fire since the home was boarded up.
A pedestrian was seriously injured in a hit-and-run Saturday evening in Durham, police said. The incident happened just after 6:45 p.m. struck in the 1700 block of Kirkwood Drive, according to a news release from Durham police.
